It amazes me to this day, how many people enter into the network marketing industry thinking it is a get-rich-quick and easy scheme. This thinking could not be further from the truth. And yet, many new recruits maintain this mindset which ultimately leads them to leave the industry prematurely.

I have always maintained, and continue to stress to my team and potential leads, that success for your network marketing business is a 2 to 5 year game plan. If you are not willing to work your business for that time frame, then do not get involved. Granted, one can have, and have had success prior to that time span, but that result is certainly not the norm.

If you are providing people with false promises and hopes, then you are sending them and anyone who they may recruit, to an early network marketing grave. It is imperative that you openly advise your recruits and leads of the time and energy that it takes to succeed in the network marketing industry. It is not fair to anyone to offer false expectations.

In addition to the time span, many new representatives are given the wrong impression that building your network marketing business is easy. This statement also could not be further from the truth. It is true that anyone can can do this business and reach a high level of success without education or business savvy. But, this success is only reached with a high degree of effort and energy.

Although the network marketing industry is not physically demanding, one must put forth the necessary time and effort to build your organization. I stress to all my new recruits that if you are not able to devote, at the start, at least 6 to 10 hours a week, then it may not be the best time to get involved. I say this at the detriment of losing that lead. But, I would rather be upfront at the outset instead of having that person later realize that they were under the misconception that it would not take much time to succeed.

It is imperative that you are honest with anyone who has desires to enter the network marketing industry. Let them know exactly how much time and effort it will take to become successful. If you lose that person, then move onto the next. But, if you don't, and that person stays with you, they will be grateful and thankful to you for not providing them with false expectations.

97% of all network marketers fail. This is a fact. What causes this failure? Well there are a myriad of reasons and I don't have enough time to put them all here so we'll concentrate on the top seven. Avoiding these doesn't guarantee you will be in the 3rd percentile but it sure will help!

1. The first and easiest one to put here in the list is that you shouldn't have tried to begin with. What I mean is, it really isn't for everybody. Some people are just not built right to tackle the challenges inherent in Network Marketing. It is a good idea to stand back after your initial excitement and really evaluate your level of interest.
2. Lack of commitment. Like I said before, this isn't easy. You have to work at it. Casual involvement equals failure.
3. No support. In my experience it is nearly impossible to succeed in MLM if you have no support from family and friends. The worst is if you have no support from your up line.
4. The wrong product or service. This is one that nearly all marketers encounter. I personally went through 3 before I found the right one. The crappy thing is most of time you don't know you are in the wrong opportunity until you realize down the road that you "just don't feel it". The saying really is true "Love what you do and you never work a day in your life". Failure is not an option if you love the product or service.
5. No more warm market. What happens to a lot of marketers is they have pursued and harassed everybody they know and when they haven't become successful by then they simply quit.
6. Can't afford it anymore. Most biz opps come with a monthly price tag: autoshipments, memberships, training costs, materials, business cards, costs of parties or meetings, and on and on. That adds up to a lot of money. Since most marketers aren't armed with all of the knowledge they need to succeed they don't make any money up front to balance those costs. They haven't learned how to MONETIZE their efforts (we'll get into this later).
7. Wasted efforts. You must learn how to work smarter not harder. While I firmly believe doing traditional warm marketing is a must, because of the human element, you would be making a serious mistake not to utilize the internet to automate your marketing efforts. The best way I know to break into that top 3% is to balance "High Touch" with "High Tech".

ACN Training - 5 Steps to Success in Building Your ACN Business

When building your ACN business, it's important that you work on certain skills. Skills like learning how to market your business, teaching your team members how to market their business, giving an effective presentation, being effective over the phone, etc., are obviously very important aspects of your business. And for the most part, these are examples of skills you need to develop. With that said, there are many intangible aspects of your business that you need to work on like your mindset, your attitude, your ability to overcome adversity, etc.

In this article, I want to briefly list down 5 tips for success in building your ACN business that will help you develop the proper mindset:

#1. Build Your Business Everyday - Those who procrastinate and "wait for all their ducks to get in a row" will QUICKLY find that the moment has passed them by. You need to do something EVERY day whether it's posting new content, making 10-20 pique calls, following up with people on your list, launching a new direct rep, conducting a PBR, etc. Remember, being consistent is a big key to winning in business. If you do a few simple things over and over again, over time, you'll see your efforts compound.

#2. Be Coachable - Participate in every team and company conference call and training. Apply what you learn and teach it to others. Make a personal commitment to learn all aspects of your business and become fundamentally sound. In this industry, or any industry, you won't make big money with mediocre skills and a mediocre mindset.

#3. Keep It Simple - Whatever you do must be duplicatable to your downline. Don't over complicate the process and try to show people how smart you are or how much you know about the product. We do three simple things in this industry: We get customers, we get customer-getters (reps) and we teach people how to get customers and customer-getters (reps). That's it!

#4. Guard Against The Ups And Downs Of The Business - Stay emotionally level and maintain an even keel. No one wants to follow an emotional basket-case. People want to follow leaders that are cool, calm and collected. Now I'm not saying that, as a leader, things won't bother you. But you always have to keep a long-term outlook and keep the big picture in mind. If you can keep and even-keeled attitude, even during the most challenging times, you will attract people to you because people are starving for that kind of leadership.

#5. Mind Your Business - Don't get sidetracked and worry about what everyone else is doing. Keep your mind and focus on what you're doing and your business. If someone is doing better than you. Great! Applaud them and keep working your business. You don't know what that person's background is or how much experience they have in marketing or personal development. Maybe they paid their price in a previous company or industry. It doesn't matter. What matters is that you build your business for you and your family.

Building your ACN business isn't easy, but the freedom and financial security you'll have when you build it is worth all the work and effort! If you're serious about building your business, I want to encourage you to apply these steps into your strategy.
